Hello from the nightbird!

I'm really into science ficion. I wrote/write fanfiction, mostly ST-DS9, and my current obsession is Jericho, with several recent new stories and many more ideas. Warning, though, my stories are very dark and usually alternate histories. I've got three about the Dominion winning the war.

I'm also big time into crafts. I made so many croched afgans for the holidays I've retired for the summer. But I am doing tapastry now. I also do wire and bead jewelry, and occasional art. I've never tried leather craft, but would love to.

I've been a part of sciffy fandom for some thirty years, and though I don't get to many conventions its not for lack of wanting to. The atmosphere is where I call home. I go to Loscon every year, but other cons if I can.

I'm also bipolar. I was diagnosed three years ago after many years of knowing. I'm still dealing with how this has changed my life. With the public stigma about the disease its like having a secret you hope nobody notices. We're mostly ordinary people who've had bits and pieces of life stolen away, and would love to be able to tell the world about how it feels so we could erase the stigma.

I'm wiccan, currently looking for a comfortable group experience. It gets lonely as a solitary. I don't hide my religion because the only way for acceptance is being open about your choice.

I listen to classic rock, and occasionally nice heavy metal when in the mood. My special interest is folk music, especially artist like Eric Bogle and Stan Rogers. I attended Stan's last concert before he was killed in a plane crash. I pretty much like all kinds of music except opera, rap, and spanish language stuff. My son plays jazz in high school, and I'm fond of that too. What I listen to depends on what I feel, of course.

I'm an out of the box person. I'm attracted to other out of the boxers for the state of mind. People sometimes think I'm wierd, but that's fine. Why would anyone want to be normal?
